The fundamentals of art are important as its concepts branch out into different fields such as animator, visual designer, illustrator and other niches in Artistic drawings.

Form

The first on our list is form as these make objects drawn to appear in a three-dimensional form. It is easier to learn from by breaking complex characters into simpler forms like cubes, pyramids, cylinders and such.

Value and Lighting

Value and lightning help to project a greater feeling of an image. Value is pretty much the ability to utilize light and shadow for an image. While lightning indicates the contrast of shading but in general sense Value and lightning go together.
One way to learn this art is to start drawing form inanimate objects and begin to use different concepts of colours, shade and lightning to give a meaning to the image.

Anatomy

Anatomy is a fundamental that is useful when drawing a character or trying to represent a character in a particular concept. The artist is able to learn the various stances of the human body which aids in drawing moments of movement which is a key feature in comic art.
Anatomy takes time to learn as you would need to master the techniques one at a time. It is important to start from a basic aspect and take it on from there.

Perspective

The fourth fundamental on our list Perspective is one of the most discussed fundamental as there are many articles online that cover this subject. Perspective is majorly focused on the view of as the object from the viewer.
Practice is the best way of learning perspective as proper mastery helps in the understanding of value and lightning. Concepts such as vanishing point and horizon line are among the basics that must be learnt to understand the term perspective.

Colour Theory

Colour Theory is basically how to manipulate the use of colours in your object to produce a lasting impression. A good combination of colours changes an image drastically and usually matches perfectly with lightning and value.
To master this fundamental, you need to read about the different meanings and associations involved with different colours. For example, Red typically signifies “war” and “white” typically signifies peace.

Composition

Composition is the last fundamental on this list and one of the complex concept to teach as it focuses more on the aesthetic look of the image. The finishing of an image can be the difference between different images.
